Getting Started
If you're interested in contributing to the development of a Monkey RPG, you're probably already familiar with the series itself. Increasing that familiarity would be useful :)... explore
Monkey Heaven and consider obtaining the show on DVD. Monkey Heaven has a great page on DVDs and
boxed sets.
Basic technical requirements for contributing to an Exult-based Monkey RPG would be:
- Exult, Exult Studio, and development tools from the Exult site.
- Ultima VII and/or Ultima VII Part 2, set up and running successfully under Exult. It will be up to you to source copies of these games, check out ebay or
related discussions on the Exult discussion board.
- The Gimp, with the shape plugin from the Exult site installed and working.
Things to Do
If there were sufficient interest to get this project up and running, I'd see some of the priorities being as follows...
- Administrative
- Setting up a source forge project and version control
- Improving the web page, adding discussion board, IRC channel?
- Better hosting
- Development
- Combat animations for main characters (walking already done)
- Graphic development, specifically creation of traditional Chinese architectural elements
- Location / map building
- Cloud-flying, weapons
- Conversation and scripting
- Lots, lots more...
